Adjectives + する

Adjectives are used in conjugation with the verb する to make adjectives active, creating sentences such as 冷たくする (to make something cold/colder).

I-Adjectives

With i-adjectives, remove the final い and add く. Then add する. する can be conjugated further to create more complex sentences.

I-Adjective	+する
楽しい	楽しくする
高い	高くする

Na-Adjectives

With na-adjectives, remove the な and replace it with に and add する.

Na-Adjective	+する
綺麗な	綺麗にする
賑やかな	賑やかにする

These forms are often combined with the te-form of する to make polite requests. See the example sentences below for more ideas of the constructions use.

Example Sentences

• 音楽は私達の生活を楽しくする。
  Music makes our lives more enjoyable.

• 暖かくするしてください。
  Please make it warmer.

• この間の試験は難しすぎたので、次の試験は優しくしてください。
  Please make the next exam easier, because the last one was too difficult.
